#breastfriendsbook

#BreastFriendsBook began after losing my Aunty Robyn to breast cancer a few years ago, seeing my incredible sister-in-law Donna fight it & come up the victor. There were other friends who were "highjacked" by it, with not all the endings being ok. Breast Cancer seemed everywhere!! In the conversations I was having, there were two types of people. Some who got Breast Cancer and went in for the fight and others like me who at 52yo hadn't bothered with a mammogram yet.... I know, what an idiot!!! (If this is you.... change that NOW... I certainly have). So, I began to look for ways to give back & educate. Aunty Robyn and her family used Breast Cancer Care WA as a support network, and she couldn't speak highly enough of them. She always said, "they are my angels and I wish I could give back." So with Aunty Robyn in mind, I chose Breast Cancer Care WA as the charity to benefit from my work. I wanted a way to educate & inspire others and I want the world to see the beauty, wisdom & bravery of the warrior humans who have stared this ugly cancer beast in the eye. I am blown away by the grace, resilience, positivity and lustre for life that the humans I have been in contact with possess and I want to share this energy with the world. One lady in particular Phyllis inspired me greatly to want to share more of these so called "ordinary" women. Phyllis has had breast cancer; a brain tumour and she has Parkinson’s disease.... when speaking with her about life, we unearthed a quote. When asked by others "How is it that you are not depressed?" Phyllis' reply... "IF DEPRESSION WOULD CURE ME, I WOULD GO THERE IN A HEARTBEAT..." In my opinion, this wisdom is for every human. So here I am, collating a book that will feature incredible photographs of women, men, any human who has been affected by breast cancer. You may be the human who is in mid fight, or celebrating being cancer free and anything in between. Or you may be the human who has been left behind. Everybody’s story is worth telling. You never know who you may inspire with your words and/or your photograph. Feeling beautiful doesn't always come easily, showing up for a greater cause may be the leap you need to enable you to see yourself through someone else’s eyes and realise that you are incredible, worthy and beautiful just the way you are. If you feel this opportunity may be for you.... Reach out... I would love to get to know you and your story (or forward this on to someone you believe needs to see/hear this...) Together the intention is to raise awareness, raise funds, celebrate humans, support one another. The cream on the cake is that you take the opportunity to let me create an incredible photograph of yourself and maybe your loved ones too. Part proceeds of our booking fee go directly to Breast Cancer Care WA… You will be gifted a print of the photograph that has been chosen to feature in the book and you will be given the opportunity to purchase prints for yourself. There are no rules here. You can be as involved as little or as much as you wish... For more info there is a "contact" button below. You can fill in your details. You can text or call me direct 0408 098 091 or head to email hello@houseofphotography.com.au... I look forward to hearing from you, unveiling your extraordinary, telling your story and showing off your beauty from the inside out...
